Behind The Brand

It all started with a dream….

Literally a dream.

A frustration dream in fact.

I was making candles. Or attempting to, at least.

Every time I went to pour the wax, I was met with broken jars. No matter how hard I tried to create something, a trail of shattered glass was left in my wake. When I finally paused to glue the jars back together, creating something new from the remains and setting each piece with intention and purpose, I realized I was finally able to move forward.

The next morning over a cuppa tea with my mom, I knew I couldn’t contain it any longer. “I know it’s a wild idea, but I’m going to start a candle company.” I proclaimed it with such conviction that it didn’t matter if it would be a failure or a raging success. I just wanted to trust myself again and create something beautiful.

Mom grinned ear to ear. She was on board.

After all, it was a return to her roots as well. I grew up in the floral and gift business my parents worked tirelessly to build and maintain. Our holidays and everyday life were spent helping others express gratitude, happiness and kindness.

That business left such a profound impact on me that, to this day, I’m at my happiest when I’m selecting gifts that will bring joy to others. The excitement of knowing intention and care went in to choosing something special for someone fills up my heart, and I wanted those feelings to be part of my daily life again.

Magnolia Rose Candles was born out of that desire.

It is with this intention that each Magnolia Rose candle and reed diffuser has been carefully hand crafted to make a beautiful gift for yourself or someone you love.

When I look back at this adventure, I want it to act as a reminder to myself, my daughter Magnolia Rose, and women everywhere that when life feels like it’s been shattered into a million pieces, we are brave and courageous enough to rebuild the beautiful lives we all deserve using only the pieces that serve us.

Like Madeleine Albright said, “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” No one ever expects to be in a situation that requires help, but it can happen. This is why a portion of the proceeds from each sale will be given to local organizations that focus on aiding women in need.
